CALGARY STAMPEDE
North American Midway Entertainment presented 60 rides at the Calgary Stampede in southern Alberta, Canada which took place July 4-13. New this year was the debut of the Great FUNtier, a new family area, where 25 kiddie rides and numerous family-style games were featured.
The Great FUNtier family area was a marvelous success and plans are in the works to even improve the area with more family attractions and programming in 2015,” said Scooter Korek, VP of Client Relations at North American Midway Entertainment. “Families enjoy a quieter area to ride coupled with family entertainment.” The entire success story saw an increased patronage to the new area by a whopping 17 percent.
Ten days of almost perfect weather drew visitors from across the globe to this internationally acclaimed event that in the end, landed at 1,263,000 visitors through the turnstiles, which was 10.5% increase over the Flood Plagued version of the 2013 Stampede. North American Midway Entertainment also increased total customer ridership by 11%.
The Calgary Stampede will return July 3-12 next year.
INDIANA STATE FAIR
The 2014 Indiana State Fair, held August 1-17 attracted 954,884 people, making this year the third best attended fair. For the second year the Kiddie Land area, filled with a dozen rides for younger kids was extremely popular.
“We continue to get a lot of positive feedback about the Kiddie Land midway designed for families with small children,” said Andy Klotz, Public Relations Director at the Indiana State Fair. “It was consistently busy throughout the fair and it provides a fantastic atmosphere for fairgoers immediately upon entering our main east-side entrance. We hosted TLC’s long-running reality show “19 Kids and Counting” one day, and the show’s producers were excited to find out about the Kiddie Land area, which provided a perfect backdrop for some of their show.”
The 2015 dates for the Indiana State Fair are August 7-23.
ILLINOIS STATE FAIR
Adventure Village at the Illinois State Fair, held August 7-17,is a quaint secluded area filled with nearly 20 rides for younger children set away from the main midway filled with thrill rides. The Adventure Village Depot, adorned with beautiful landscaping, has a kiddie train that takes young riders around the perimeter of the Village. This popular ride adds just the right flair to this fabulous area of the Fair. “We have found many of our fairs have had great success in creating a quieter area for ‘kiddie’ rides to be featured,” said Danny Huston, co-owner of North American Midway Entertainment. “Families enjoy a quieter area, not only to enjoy the family rides, but simply to take a break and relax too.” The dates for the 2015 Illinois State Fair are set for August 13-23.
